for South Australia Illustrated
By George French Angus
My Mission as a designer/maker is to create beautiful functional objects. Im a team player and often I get to work with, for or to complement great masters. These historically important artworks come from a luminary of the Angus clan, pioneers of the Barossa Valley, South Australia
Artist George French Angus arrived in South Australia in 1844 and painted some of the earliest views of the young colony’s landscapes, inhabitants, flora and fauna. He returned to London and in 1847published the handsome folio South Australia Illustrated which became an important documentation of colonial South Australia.
This display case has been specifically designed to house and display some of Angus’s watercolours, an original copy of the folio and a facsimile.
The style of the cabinetwork gives a respectful nod to colonial and classic references while embracing a fluid connection to the new found flora. Principal materials are Glass, Figured Blackwood and Huon Pine.
